Kelsey is an 18 year old from Wilmington, Delaware. On November 30, 2008, Kelsey’s dream became a reality when she was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA 2009. Kelsey is an honor student at Ursuline Academy in Wilmington. She is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Miller. She has a 19 year old sister, Kayla, whom is a freshman at The University of Delaware and a 15 year old brother, Dylan, that attends Salesianum High School.
Kelsey has many interests with basketball being the one she loves the most. She has participated on the high school varsity basketball team since 8 th grade where she was named a captain of the team this past year as a junior due to her strong leadership skills and work ethic! She also is a member of Spirit Club and Fitness Club.
Kelsey is an extremely pleasant, radiant and compassionate individual! She finds self-worth in helping others. Her school’s mission is “Serviam” which Kelsey exemplifies everyday. She believes it is imperative for people to help others that are in need. Community service is very important to Kelsey. Recently she attended a blood drive at her school and donated her first unit of blood. She has assisted in feeding the homeless in a local shelter. She is a Eucharistic Minister where she practices at her parish Immaculate Heart of Mary and also at her school liturgies. Kelsey would like to encourage other teens to be leaders, make good decisions and not conform to peer pressure; teenagers should stay true to themselves and practice good moral judgment.
Being blessed with this “Once in a Lifetime” opportunity as Miss Delaware Teen USA 2009, Kelsey made this the most memorable year in her young life! She worked hard getting out into the community to help others and also encouraged other young girls that anything is possible. Dreams do come true!
Kelsey’s future plans consist of attending college, continuing her basketball career at the collegiate level and most importantly becoming a registered nurse where she can then practice her motto of “people helping people” everyday!
Kelsey was honored and very excited to represent “The First State” in The Miss Teen USA Pageant this past summer in the Bahamas!
